IDAN in the community · Our national CSR initiative
Project Nexus
Each year, designers across IDAN's chapters transform interior spaces in underserved communities. Every project shows what professional interior design does for people's wellbeing, for the market and for national development.
Why "Nexus"
A central point of connection
Project Nexus closes the gap between professional interior design and what the public, the market and policymakers expect from it.
Design for social good
Interior design as a driver of social good, with outcomes that can be measured.
Impact people can feel
Showing real people the emotional, psychological and economic difference good design makes.
Better spaces, stronger nation
Healthier, more functional public spaces as part of national growth.
2025 edition
Spaces That Heal
Most healthcare spaces in Nigeria are designed for function, not healing. The 2025 edition focuses on the Sickle Cell ward at LUTH, home of the Sickle Cell Foundation Nigeria.
A redesign of the 500 sqm ward, covering waiting lounges, consultation rooms and treatment areas. It uses colour, lighting and form to support recovery and dignity for children, young adults and their families.
The theme follows World Interiors Day 2025, "Emotive Design, Human Experience & AI Intelligence". The design draws on patient and family surveys, AI-assisted analysis and contextual research.
How it works
One theme, every chapter
IDAN sets a national theme each year, aligned with World Interiors Day. Chapters can adapt it into local projects under the Project Nexus name. Future editions may take on learning spaces, markets and civic offices.
Theme
The national theme is announced in February.
Deliver
From March to August, chapters and IDAN HQ develop, fund and deliver their projects.
Premiere
Finished projects are premiered at IDAN Industry Night.
Advise
Policy advisory papers go to the relevant government bodies.
Document
Year-round case studies build a national library of what design delivers.
